StoneDawn - A Brief History

The band actually started as an imaginary band back in 2004 over a few beers. That night in Sindelfingen Gerald Beyer, Volker Scheel, Mark Waring and Enrico Oehme were out drinking a couple of beers and just chatting about all sorts when Gerald mentioned that he thought about forming a band. Mark was immediately interested in the idea, as was Volker Scheel.. I must point out at this point that Enrico had no desire to be part of it!

So.. we were 3 people to start, 1guitarist and 2 drummers! Now all we needed was 1 less drummer, a bass player and a singer. Gerald knew of another guitarist and a couple of bass players, we also convinced work colleague Martin Sprandel to stand behind a microphone and start to sing. WE WERE BORN!

The original line up looked something like this:

Volker Scheel - Drums
Martin Sprandel - Vocals
Matthias Schielen - Guitar
Claus - Bass
Erik Specht - Bass
Gerald Beyer - Drums
Some other guy - Keyboards

Well to cut a long story short, Erik moved to China, The unknown guy who played keyboards never returned, Claus moved to France and Volker sold his drums which meant that we were down to 4 guys and we were missing a bass player! 1 guy tried out as our bass player but he said far too many critical things about our music and never returned haha and then later in life we can across Georg Hoffmann. The Commander as he is now know was the most recent addition to StoneDawn and let's be fair.. without him I think the wheels would come off this StoneDawn express if he didn't join!

So as of December 2005 .. This is StoneDawn!.. 5 guys with too little talent and too much desire to make noise!

At this point, I’d like to thank Mark for the writing up the introduction in the above paragraphs. He decided to leave the band in 2009 to pursue other interests and therefore webmaster duties are now with me (the Jever guy behind the drum kit). To close the gap between where Mark left off in 2005 and today, I must not forget to mention lovely singer Nina, who joined us in 2007. After almost 2 years and numerous great gigs together, we decided to change our direction a bit and focus more on developing our own sound and songwriting than playing gigs. This was not exactly what Nina had in mind for her musical future, as she is the kind that lives to perform on stage and therefore decided to part ways with us. This decision by the way lead to a drastic increase in the average age of the band

So as of 2010, this is StoneDawn...FOUR minstrels Martin, Georg, Matthias, Gerald and ONE great technician Erik

In 2013/2014 we had some great projects running with Kat Goldberg (vocals) and Justin Miller (vocals), especially the family BBQ event at Garden Eden in Boeblingen in summer 2013! In September 2014 Christine Hermges (vocals) and Christian Schoellhorn (lead guitarist) joined the band as Gaffi was starting a break because he became father the second time.
